At Daltas, we’re bringing the ancient flavors of Gilgit-Baltistan to the world. Our dried fruits and nuts are grown by indigenous female farmers in one of the most remote, climate-vulnerable regions on earth. These communities have cultivated the same orchards for generations — apricots, mulberries, walnuts — foods that are not only delicious but also deeply tied to heritage and resilience. Our mission is simple – to empower female farmers by sharing their superfoods with the rest of the world. Our apricots, almonds, walnuts, cherries, apricot seeds, and apples are not just good for you – they're good for the world.
Our Story
THIS IS HOW IT ALL STARTED
Daltas brings the ancient flavors of Gilgit-Baltistan to the world through dried fruits and nuts grown by indigenous female farmers. Daltas creates a direct bridge from these women to conscious consumers. Every bag supports fair income, tradition, and climate resilience.
Daltas was co-founded by Samina and Christian together with Samina's family (her mom Naheed and sister Salma) in Hunza, Gilgi-Baltistan. Samina's mother and extended family are among the female farmers behind the brand. Christian comes from a family of farmers hailing from the midwest, US and is a longtime supporter of sustainable food production. For Samina, this work is deeply personal. She grew up surrounded by the rhythms of orchard life and the gatherings where women prepared fruit for drying, sharing both labor and stories. Supporting female farmers has been a crucial mission throughout her professional career.
Through Daltas, Samina and Chrisian are creating a bridge between her family’s farming community and consumers worldwide — ensuring female farmers earn fair income, maintain independence, and carry forward their traditions. Christian brings excellent expertise in operations, supply chain, and product development, helping transform this vision into a viable business model.
